Our commitment to customer satisfaction

Refund and Return Policy

Lightfoot Publishing LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) wants customers to be satisfied with their purchases and services. This Refund and Return Policy explains how refunds, returns, cancellations, and exchanges are handled for books, publishing services, speaking engagements, training services, digital products, and related purchases.

Books Purchased Through Third-Party Retailers

Books purchased through third-party retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or other online or retail sellers, are subject to the refund, return, shipping, and exchange policies of the retailer where the purchase was made. Lightfoot Publishing LLC does not control third-party retailer return decisions, refund timelines, shipping charges, or marketplace policies.

Customers seeking a refund or return for a book purchased through a third-party retailer must contact that retailer directly.

Books Purchased Directly from Lightfoot Publishing LLC

Books purchased directly from Lightfoot Publishing LLC are eligible for return or exchange only if the item is damaged, defective, incorrect, or materially different from what was ordered. To request a return or exchange, customers must contact us within 14 days of delivery at info@lightfp.com or 888-477-9314.

For purposes of this policy, “delivery” means the date the carrier tracking information shows the item was delivered.

Returned books must be in new, unused, and resalable condition unless the return is due to damage, defect, or an order fulfillment error. Lightfoot Publishing LLC reserves the right to deny a refund or exchange if the returned item is used, altered, damaged after delivery, missing materials, or returned outside the approved return period.

Refunds or exchanges for returned physical products will not be initiated until Lightfoot Publishing LLC receives and inspects the returned item. If the item is not received, or if inspection shows that the item is used, altered, damaged after delivery, missing materials, or otherwise ineligible under this policy, Lightfoot Publishing LLC may deny the refund or exchange.

Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable unless the return is caused by an error by Lightfoot Publishing LLC or unless otherwise required by applicable law.

Shipping and Delivery

For direct purchases from Lightfoot Publishing LLC, estimated shipping timeframes will be provided at the time of purchase when applicable. If no specific shipping timeframe is provided, Lightfoot Publishing LLC will make reasonable efforts to ship eligible physical products within 14 days of the order date.

If Lightfoot Publishing LLC is unable to ship an order within the stated timeframe, or within 30 days when no timeframe is stated, we will make reasonable efforts to notify the customer and provide available options, which may include accepting the delay, substituting an available item, or cancelling the order for a refund when required by applicable law.

Lightfoot Publishing LLC is not responsible for shipping delays caused by carriers, weather, incorrect shipping information provided by the customer, force majeure events, third-party fulfillment providers, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If a customer receives a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, the customer must contact Lightfoot Publishing LLC within 14 days of delivery. We may request photos, order information, proof of purchase, or other documentation to review the request.

If the request is approved, Lightfoot Publishing LLC may, at its discretion and to the extent permitted by law, provide a replacement, exchange, store credit, or refund.

Digital Products and Downloadable Materials

Digital products, downloadable materials, electronic files, online resources, templates, worksheets, manuals, or other digital content are non-refundable once delivered, accessed, downloaded, or made available to the customer.

Exceptions may be made only if there is a duplicate charge, technical delivery issue that Lightfoot Publishing LLC cannot reasonably correct, or another issue that we determine warrants a refund.

Publishing Services

Payments for publishing services, consulting, formatting, editing, design coordination, project review, research support, manuscript preparation, or related service work are refundable only before work has begun.

For purposes of this policy, work begins when Lightfoot Publishing LLC starts any project-related activity, including consultation, review, planning, communication, formatting, editing, design coordination, file setup, research, scheduling, preparation, or correspondence related to the requested service.

Once work has started, fees become non-refundable to the extent services have been performed, time has been reserved, deliverables have been prepared, or project costs have been incurred. If a refund is approved, Lightfoot Publishing LLC may deduct completed work, administrative costs, third-party costs, transaction fees, or other expenses already incurred.

Deposits, retainers, and project initiation fees may be non-refundable unless otherwise stated in a written agreement.

Speaking Engagements, Training, and Events

Fees paid for public speaking, private speaking, corporate training, government training, workshops, book-related events, or similar engagements are subject to the terms stated in the applicable written agreement, invoice, proposal, or statement of work.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, deposits and scheduling fees are non-refundable once the date is reserved. If a customer cancels an event, training, or engagement, Lightfoot Publishing LLC may retain amounts necessary to cover preparation time, reserved calendar time, administrative work, travel arrangements, materials, third-party costs, and other expenses incurred.

Unless otherwise stated in a written agreement, cancellations made within 30 days of the scheduled engagement may be non-refundable in full. Cancellations made more than 30 days before the scheduled engagement may be eligible for partial refund or rescheduling at Lightfoot Publishing LLC’s discretion after deducting preparation time, administrative costs, third-party costs, transaction fees, and other expenses already incurred.

Lightfoot Publishing LLC may allow rescheduling at its discretion, subject to availability and any additional costs.

Bulk Orders

Bulk book orders, custom orders, signed copies, personalized copies, special-order materials, training packets, and institutional orders are final sale unless the items are damaged, defective, incorrect, or otherwise approved for return by Lightfoot Publishing LLC.

Bulk orders may not be cancelled, returned, or refunded after printing, fulfillment, customization, signing, personalization, or shipment has begun, or after the order has been submitted to a printer, distributor, fulfillment provider, or third-party vendor.

Non-Returnable Items

The following items are generally non-returnable and non-refundable:

Digital products or downloadable materials after delivery or access
Opened, used, altered, or damaged books not caused by Lightfoot Publishing LLC
Signed, personalized, or custom materials
Bulk orders or institutional orders
Completed services
Deposits, retainers, or scheduling fees after work has started or dates have been reserved
Third-party retailer purchases
Shipping and handling charges, unless required by law or caused by our error
Services, materials, or orders submitted to third-party vendors, printers, distributors, or fulfillment providers
Event, speaking, or training fees cancelled within 30 days of the scheduled engagement, unless otherwise stated in a written agreement

Lightfoot Publishing LLC reserves the right to determine, in its reasonable discretion and to the extent permitted by law, whether any item, service, order, material, or transaction not specifically listed above is non-returnable or non-refundable based on the nature of the purchase, work performed, customization, delivery status, third-party costs, or other relevant circumstances.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method when reasonably possible. Refund processing times may vary depending on the payment processor, bank, credit card issuer, or platform used for the purchase.

Lightfoot Publishing LLC is not responsible for delays caused by banks, payment processors, credit card issuers, mobile payment platforms, or third-party retailers.

Proof of Purchase

Lightfoot Publishing LLC may require proof of purchase before approving any refund, return, exchange, cancellation, or service credit. Acceptable proof may include an order number, receipt, invoice, payment confirmation, email confirmation, or other documentation showing the transaction.

Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Customers agree to contact Lightfoot Publishing LLC first to make a good-faith effort to resolve any refund, return, cancellation, or service-related issue before initiating a chargeback, payment dispute, or third-party claim.

Filing a chargeback or payment dispute does not alter the terms of this Refund and Return Policy or any applicable written agreement, invoice, proposal, or statement of work. Lightfoot Publishing LLC reserves the right to provide this policy, proof of purchase, service records, delivery records, communication records, and other relevant documentation to payment processors, banks, credit card issuers, or dispute-resolution entities when responding to chargebacks or payment disputes.

Right to Refuse Refunds or Returns

Lightfoot Publishing LLC reserves the right to refuse a refund, return, cancellation, or exchange request if the request does not comply with this policy, appears fraudulent, involves misuse of our products or services, or is otherwise unreasonable under the circumstances.

Lightfoot Publishing LLC also reserves the right to refuse a refund, return, cancellation, or exchange request if the customer provides inaccurate information, fails to provide requested documentation, refuses to return the item when required, damages the item after delivery, or attempts to misuse this policy.
